Hello. If you are reading this, I am no longer blogging on this blog. But, there are almost 250 posts, so feel free to look through them. Even though it won't be new music, it'll still be good music. So . . . bye.
*This is 12/23/13. I changed the polls slightly so that you can vote until 1/1/24. That's almost ten years from now. I at least wanted any people who happened to be visiting to be able to vote. I didn't extend it any longer because this blog will either get deleted or aliens will cause mass chaos by deleting the internet or murdering that huge satellite in space. Thought you might want to know that my friend has a blog, and we are very alike. http://www.electricperspectivemusic.blogspot.com/ Yeah. Oh well. Yeah. This blog is kind of . . . dead. I guess this is goodbye. Again. Because it's a second goodbye, it's awkwarder, so there's no way to wrap this up. But I'm not a writer or anything, and this is the internet, so I can cut myself off midsentence and add three little dots afterwards . . .
This will be a new segment and will be the least often segment. There will only be 12 in a year, unless I want things to be special. The poll has JUST closed. You can't vote anymore.
The first question was: Do you know any of these bands? The choices were Picture me Broken, Nine Lashes, Fit for Rivals, and We Are The Ocean. And people actually voted, so there actually were results. And you were allowed to vote more than once, so the numbers are a little off, but it's alright. 7 people knew who Picture me Broken are. 5 people knew who Nine Lashes are. 6 people knew who Fit for Rivals are. And We Are The Ocean was tied with Picture me Broken. What this tells me is that I need to show you guys some more Nine Lashes, so that's what I'm going to do. Now, in one post I believe I warned you that I was going to screw up your brain with this, but it's in the spirit of undergroundmusicblog. I have to get you guys to be more familiar with the least popular band, because if you already know the band, then what's the point?
The next question was: What is your favorite song of the four below by Green Day? The choices were Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Basket Case, Last Night on Earth, and Wake me up when September Ends. Boulevard of Broken Dreams got 17 votes. Basket Case got 2 puny little votes. Last Night on Earth got 5. Wake me up When September Ends got 3. It's obvious which one won. So I decided I'd make you guys happy.
The last question was about your favorite Undergroundmusic segment, and Guilty Pleasures got 7 votes, which was the most, so you can look forward to one of those soon. I will put up a new poll after this is posted and you guys can start voting as soon as you like.
I looked back at some of my posts and realized I haven't talked about this song yet. I felt like I needed to. It's really too good of a song to ignore. At least to me. I can see why some people wouldn't like it, because this is some of their earlier music, but I like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNq9gmY_Oz4
I didn't like this song so much when I first listened to it, but now I do. Here it is:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN0b-adUt9I It's a very interesting music video for sure, I mean, his heart flipped him off...that doesn't happen every day.
Green Day. You've probably heard about them at one point or another. I mean, they've been a band for over 20 years and have released really popular songs that used to be on the radio a lot. Green Day is special to me, because they were the one band I was able to grow up listening to. My mom would always have some crappy pop song on the radio, so it was nice to be able to listen to 21 guns after an hour of hearing Britney Spears and Taylor Swift whine into a microphone. Green Day has released about 15 albums, well, that's at least how many I have on my iPod. Some songs you might know by them:
I could list about ten more. So if for some reason you have in fact been living under a rock, go listen to Green Day. They are an amazing band and they've made a lot of music. And before I go, I just wanted to point out that these are some of my personal favorites, besides the ones I just listed.
Hopefully, this will also be a new segment. What I'll do is give you 3 bands. You have to answer some questions about the band, and at the end, there will be links leading you to the song you would most like by them. If you already have listened to these bands, go ahead and play anyways. It could be fun.
The band choices are Paramore, Evanescence, and Green Day. The next time I do this segment, I'll show you some less popular bands that you might not know. But this time, we'll only do better known bands just to show you how this works. I purposely picked some well known bands because they have released more music that you might like rather than a new band who has an EP.
1. What is your favorite genre of the choices below? A. Alternative rock B. Um..something more on the pop side C. Other/a genre similar to those choices
2. Do you like upbeat songs with electric guitars and the singer is just belting out notes, or quiet acoustic songs? A. Upbeat songs for sure! B. Quiet acoustic songs C. Eh..a bit of both, I don't know. 3. You hate it when- A. A band's style of music completely changes for the worse B. When a band's music stays the same throughout all of their albums C. I don't care. Just give me my results.
If you chose all or mostly C's or none of your answer letters match, I hope you're happy because you gave me no information whatsoever. I'll just give you 3 random songs.
So, I decided I'd show you guys a new band every week. They could be any band, and occasionally a singer. They could be broken up, or still together and just haven't released music in a while. If you have a band, feel free to tell me about it in the comments below and you could be featured!
Today, we'll have a pretty popular band: Green Day.
I really liked Green Day. I have some songs memorized and can play a few on guitar. They've released so many albums I almost can't keep track. And they're simply amazing because they can put on a great live show. Now, I'm not the biggest Green Day fan out there, so I can't tell you the entire history of the band. I do know that their first few albums were very punk, but each albums slowly became a bit more alternative rock. That's fine. Because of that, they released some of my favorite songs, like Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake me up When September Ends, and more. But I still like their older songs, like Basket Case and She. Overall, I like this band, but I'm not a fan of their more recent albums, like Uno, Dos, Tre, and I can't tell you much about them. But, I recommend you go and listen to some of the songs. Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably have heard a few. I suggest that you listen to more. What do you think about this band? Tell me in the comments below and you can look forward to learning about another band next Monday.
