Undergroundmusicblog announcements

Hello. If you are reading this, I am no longer blogging on this blog. But, there are almost 250 posts, so feel free to look through them. Even though it won't be new music, it'll still be good music.
So . . . bye.

*This is 12/23/13. I changed the polls slightly so that you can vote until 1/1/24. That's almost ten years from now. I at least wanted any people who happened to be visiting to be able to vote. I didn't extend it any longer because this blog will either get deleted or aliens will cause mass chaos by deleting the internet or murdering that huge satellite in space.
Thought you might want to know that my friend has a blog, and we are very alike. http://www.electricperspectivemusic.blogspot.com/
Yeah.
Oh well. Yeah. This blog is kind of . . . dead.
I guess this is goodbye. Again. Because it's a second goodbye, it's awkwarder, so there's no way to wrap this up. But I'm not a writer or anything, and this is the internet, so I can cut myself off midsentence and add three little dots afterwards . . .

Paramore-Daydreaming

Paramore has recently released a video for their song Daydreaming, off of their newest album. As most of you may know, I prefer Paramore's older music. I really like anything off of All We Know is Falling, Riot!, and Brand New Eyes. And I have to say.....
Paramore is dead to me.
Yes, every member of the band is a great and talented musician. They did make some great songs from their latest album. I personally like Part II, Anklebiters, and I've grown to like Now. Daydreaming isn't really on the list of my favorite songs by them, because it feels so weird and different.
Here's the music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euxXBvdrzxQ

Long story short, I loved listening to the badass version of Paramore where Hayley would just belt everything out, the Farro brothers were still in the band, and they were all just making amazing music that made you want to head bang.

But now things are a little different. I think it's totally fine that they're changing their style, and a lot of their new songs talk about growing up and changing as a person. That's cool. That's great. But their music has changed in such a way that it almost doesn't even sound like them. I think it's alright if bands change their musical style a little bit through the years. When they first started, they were playing kind of simple songs with power chords and riffs, and through the years they found more ways to make it sound interesting and awesome. But now it almost sounds kind of pop. "Daydreaming. Daydreaming all the time." I admit,  their old songs had a bit of this as well. "That's what you get when you let your heart win. Woah. Woah." But I feel like they used to present it in a way where it was still rock and they presented in a way that their fans apparently really liked.
All I'm saying is, bands change. I do not expect for them to make the same music for ten years and for them to grow up and still act like teenagers. I support growing up, but I don't like the new songs.
What do you think? Argue, I mean, tell me below in the comments :)

Here is a list of songs you may not have heard by Paramore. These aren't all of them, there are plenty more, and if I've talked about them before, they probably won't be listed here.

Paramore-Decoy

I wanted to make a really quick post about this song, because it's one of my favorite songs by Paramore that I haven't mentioned at all yet.

Debate-Paramore

This will kind of be a new segment. It'll be listed under "segments" so I guess it'll be a segment.
I wanted to make a segment where you get an opinion and you can voice something instead of just clicking on a link and liking or disliking a song.
This is sure to cause arguments in the comments, once people actually comment on the blog.
Today we'll be debating about Paramore. It's whether or not you like the old Paramore, (songs from All We Know is Falling, Riot!, Brand New Eyes with the Farro brothers) or new Paramore (self-titled album without the Farro brothers)

Let's talk about old Paramore first. I personally like old Paramore because they released some of my favorite songs like Ignorance, Decode, Fences, Let the Flames Begin, etc. Also, Zac was a really good drummer in the band, and with the Farro brothers still in the band they released alternative rock music. Also, every one of their albums from All We Know is Falling to Brand New Eyes just improved. Hayley's singing became more powerful, she had more control, maybe a wider range, Taylor, Josh, Zac, and Jeremy all just improved as musicians, and the songs gradually become more complex and expressed deeper thoughts.

Now onto new Paramore. I was so excited when I heard that Paramore was going to release a new album. I just bought a band T-Shirt, I was on youtube and I was ready to listen to Now. I double-checked to make sure I was listening to Paramore. It sounded nothing like them. Without the Farro brothers, the band just kind of fell apart. Yes, before then they released some great songs like Monster and In the Mourning, and Monster is also one of my favorite songs by them, but the new album just disappointed me. Their entire style changed. They did release some great songs on the album. I personally like Anklebiters, the interludes, and Part II. But songs like Ain't it Fun and Still Into You just really don't sound like them. A lot of people like these songs, but when you compare them to songs like Pressure and Brighter, you can barely tell they're the same band. It's true, a band won't stay the same forever. We can't expect them to keep writing simple songs with power chords and simple lyrics. I just don't feel like they exactly changed for the best.

Now it's your decision. Do you like old Paramore or new Paramore? Argue below in the comments. After 10 comments, I'll tell you guys who won.

Paramore-The Summer Tic

I kind of want to make a segment called "Random songs I like" but there's no need to make another segment.
I mean, segments are good. They keep certain types of posts in one category to make it easy for you to search them. Which reminds me, I'm going to change the search box to just segments for now. BECAUSE I CAN.
So, I have the computer for a while.
Let's begin.
Today, I'm going to start on a light-hearted note to even out the song I'm going to show you after this post.
I just wanted to bring to attention some of Paramore's less popular songs. The released an EP called the Summer Tic, I believe, and I just wanted to bring that to your attention.
Here's Emergency, the "crab" mix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy6L9YSLJFs
More of their songs from the EP should be in the suggested videos.
Well, stay tuned for my next post. It'll be interesting.
I feel like the picture is appropriate.

10 signs you've been living under a rock

A new segment.
Don't look at me like that.
The different thing about this segment is that it will have an end. There will only be 10.
Basically, I'll show you some really popular bands, and at the end of this series, you'll be able to find out if you've been living under a rock.
The first one is a huge sign that you've been living under a rock. If you don't know this band, then I can guarantee that you haven't looked in the comments on youtube. If you don't know this band, then you also don't know what rage you will get for comparing other bands to this band.

Paramore.

Not only is Paramore one of the most popular female fronted bands of today, but it is among the few female fronted bands in their genre that have gotten radio play and millions of fans.
You might have heard them on the radio and didn't know it. Here's some of the songs I personally have heard on the radio that I really like. Of course, lots of their songs have been on the radio, but these are just some of the more popular ones:

Misery Business: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCyGvGEtOwc
Ignorance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH9A6tn_P6g
The Only Exception: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J7J_IWUhls

If you don't like those, they've released a whole new album with a much different sound:

Still Into You: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OblL026SvD4
Now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G133kjKy91U
Ain't it Fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDQt4KLRT4M

Lots of people compare less popular female fronted bands to Paramore. If you open your eyes, you'll see that this causes lots of arguments on youtube. But before we go into that, let's talk some more about their songs.

Here's a song from their first album, All we Know is Falling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-MaaxgdUT4
Second, Riot!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kz6hNDlEEg
Third, Brand New Eyes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5howHv3F54
Fourth is a self-titled album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CWhPozi7Kg
And you will continue to live under a rock if you don't know this Twilight soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvnkAtWcKYg

Also, if you want to convince your friends that you don't live under a rock, two of the members of Paramore left the band after Brand New Eyes. It caused a pretty big change in the music. If you know that, it will just make you understand....life...I guess...not really...

So, I hope you found some songs you like, and I also hope you don't feel so proud of yourself because there are nine more reasons why you are living under a rock.
For others, I hope this was a nice trip down memory lane.

Lyrics #1

I've noticed that quite a few people will like a song if there is one lyric that they can relate to or is just so perfect that they can only like the song. So I've been doing some looking around to find songs that have just one amazing lyrics, or a very meaningful song. I asked the internet and they came up with some really good lyrics, so I'm making a new segment and I'll share these lyrics with you.
A kind of obvious one is some Paramore lyrics from In the Mourning.
It's "You were the greatest thing and now you're just a memory to let go of."
You can find the song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO4t-aYIooo
Well. great. We have yet another new segment. It's just proof that I have no life.
I feel like I should end these by saying something along the lines of "See you next week!" but I'm not good with schedules..
Maybe I can see "Until next time" but that's just not my style.
I'll just awkwardly say bye...
So...um...bye...

Find your favorite song #1

Hopefully, this will also be a new segment. What I'll do is give you 3 bands. You have to answer some questions about the band, and at the end, there will be links leading you to the song you would most like by them. If you already have listened to these bands, go ahead and play anyways. It could be fun.

The band choices are Paramore, Evanescence, and Green Day. The next time I do this segment, I'll show you some less popular bands that you might not know. But this time, we'll only do better known bands just to show you how this works. I purposely picked some well known bands because they have released more music that you might like rather than a new band who has an EP.

   1. What is your favorite genre of the choices below?
       A. Alternative rock
       B. Um..something more on the pop side
       C. Other/a genre similar to those choices

   2. Do you like upbeat songs with electric guitars and the singer is just belting out notes, or quiet acoustic songs?
       A. Upbeat songs for sure!
       B. Quiet acoustic songs
       C. Eh..a bit of both, I don't know.

   3. You hate it when-
       A. A band's style of music completely changes for the worse
       B. When a band's music stays the same throughout all of their albums
       C. I don't care. Just give me my results.

If you got all or mostly A's, here are the songs you would probably like a lot from these bands.
From Paramore, you would like these 3 songs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzjJMP4Psbk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXTBNR09c34

Spotlight Song of the week #2

Here's the 2nd Spotlight Song of the Week. Remember, if you have a song you would like to show
the world, comment and it might be featured.
So, I decided to do a Paramore song because I would have to feature them sooner or later. No, they're not underground at all, in fact, a few of the bands I've shown you already aren't. But, here's Ignorance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH9A6tn_P6g
Any Paramore fan knows that song already, so this most likely isn't new music you haven't heard before. But, it's a good song, so if you haven't heard it, go listen to it.
