Undergroundmusicblog announcements
Hello. If you are reading this, I am no longer blogging on this blog. But, there are almost 250 posts, so feel free to look through them. Even though it won't be new music, it'll still be good music. So . . . bye.*This is 12/23/13. I changed the polls slightly so that you can vote until 1/1/24. That's almost ten years from now. I at least wanted any people who happened to be visiting to be able to vote. I didn't extend it any longer because this blog will either get deleted or aliens will cause mass chaos by deleting the internet or murdering that huge satellite in space.Thought you might want to know that my friend has a blog, and we are very alike. http://www.electricperspectivemusic.blogspot.com/Yeah. Oh well. Yeah. This blog is kind of . . . dead. I guess this is goodbye. Again. Because it's a second goodbye, it's awkwarder, so there's no way to wrap this up. But I'm not a writer or anything, and this is the internet, so I can cut myself off midsentence and add three little dots afterwards . . .
The band I'm going to talk about today is Highways.
I really struggled to put them into 3 different categories to present them to you. I could just present them to you as a band you should go listen to, but they're very similar to Tonight Alive, but I don't really listen to them any more.
So here you. Let's start off with telling you why they are similar to Tonight Alive:
- The members of the band are from Australia, so the lead singers have the same accents.
- The overall genre of music is the same, or at least very similar.
- The lead singers are both very powerful and talented.
- The structure of the songs are similar. Kind of like a loud intro, soft verse, then they exploded at the chorus, then they have a 2nd verse that kind of leads up to the chorus, then the chorus, then the transition, then the last chorus, then they somehow tie things up perfectly.
And the reason why they are a band that I used to like is because I just don't listen to them anymore.
So here are a few songs from Highways:

Now some songs from Tonight Alive:

Hope you like this. If not then...that's your opinion.
I'm mainly doing this because I think the bands I'm about to show you consist of the same people. You'll need to clear that up for me. Either way, they sound very similar.
One band similar to Renfue is Bannerhill. Another band similar to both is Quinn Ivory.
Here's a song by Renfue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0VZhjoMgU8
Here's one by Bannerhill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9VYsxWQUX0
Here's Quinn Ivory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzQ--MYYbdw
There you go. The similarities are:
- Quinn Ivory and Bannerhill have the same lead singer (I think)
- Pretty much same genre
- Same group of fans, if that counts
- All of the bands have been forgotten by most of their previous fans
Now, I just had to tell you about this one. You may or may not know, but a while ago, the band members of Evanescence left Amy Lee and formed a new band. (I think Evanescence is back together, though, or maybe they have two bands. You'll have to clear that up for me in the comments.) So they formed this new band and made music that sounded just like Evanescence and got a lead singer that sounded a whole lot like Amy Lee. This band was called We Are the Fallen, after Evanescence's first album, Fallen.
Let's look at similarities:
- Similar lead singer, very powerful, wide vocal range
- Almost the same style of music
- The band members, an obvious one
- One that I'm probably going to get a lot of crap about, but Bury me Alive and Bring to Life sound kind of similar and have a fairly similar meaning. Yeah, yeah, there are differences, you can't compare bands and songs, every song is different, blah, blah, blah
I don't want to go into too much depth, so I'm just generalizing. There are plenty of other similarities.
Here are some Evanescence songs:
Bring me to Life: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YxaaGgTQYM
Going Under: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdhqVtpR2ts
Imaginary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0ShYd5ruB8
Now for some We Are the Fallen:
Bury me Alive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzTZeeMCUBk
Tear the World Down: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tufm5KBjXSw
Through Hell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADU8BvQS_KA
Hope you like these bands, or one of the bands. If not...well...I'm sorry...maybe next time...
This is going to be a new segment! Yay!
As you can tell, I have no life.
Haha...who needs friends anyway....
This segment is for the purpose of easing people out of their obsession with one band into another. Or, if you don't know either of the bands, I'll have no choice but to give you two new obsessions. I'll talk about one really popular band and then give you the closest match to them.
Today's band is Skillet. The band most like them, as far as I know, is Nine Lashes. There are probably closer matches, but this will work just fine. Let's look at the similarities, shall we?
- Skillet and Nine Lashes are both Christian rock bands.
- The general sound is similar.
- There is a male lead singer in both bands.
There are more similarities I could say, but they're kind of stupid. For example: Both of the bands were formed in the united states.
Here's some Skillet songs:
Sick of It: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHzU-9iozmo
Monster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mjlM_RnsVE
Hero: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGcsIdGOuZY
Awake and Alive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aJUnltwsqs
All awesome songs. Here are some Nine Lashes songs:
Anthem of the Lonely: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgS1zjvCPF4
Get Back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFawWoisFqw
Write it Down: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6PAakX2k1U
Believe Your Eyes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0hiifdoVjE
All amazing songs. You might be able to spot some similarities, but each band and song is different. There are probably bands with more similarities to Skillet, but they're different enough for it to sound different, but with enough similarities to love both bands the same.
