Undergroundmusicblog announcements
Hello. If you are reading this, I am no longer blogging on this blog. But, there are almost 250 posts, so feel free to look through them. Even though it won't be new music, it'll still be good music. So . . . bye.*This is 12/23/13. I changed the polls slightly so that you can vote until 1/1/24. That's almost ten years from now. I at least wanted any people who happened to be visiting to be able to vote. I didn't extend it any longer because this blog will either get deleted or aliens will cause mass chaos by deleting the internet or murdering that huge satellite in space.Thought you might want to know that my friend has a blog, and we are very alike. http://www.electricperspectivemusic.blogspot.com/Yeah. Oh well. Yeah. This blog is kind of . . . dead. I guess this is goodbye. Again. Because it's a second goodbye, it's awkwarder, so there's no way to wrap this up. But I'm not a writer or anything, and this is the internet, so I can cut myself off midsentence and add three little dots afterwards . . .
I accidently changed my language settings on google to Spanish and I don't know how to change it back now that it's in Spanish so I'm going to learn Spanish for the sole purpose of changing back my settings.
Gato=cat
Aqua=water
Periodico=newspaper
Justin Bieber=the reason every girl in my year is a drooling idiot
Never mind.
I wanted to make a quick spotlight band and song of the week, so I'm making one post for it because I really don't have much time.
Here we go.
It's Icon for Hire.
Shocker.
Yup. They're a great band and here are some songs by them:
Get Well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS8sqgBgzG8
Make a Move: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_S9VvJM1PI
Off With Her Head, which is the first song I've heard by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w4JGHB2o6I
But, I really like Make a Move, so that's the song of the week.
That's it.
I'm kind of lazy.
I'm kind of sorry.
I'm kind of not.
I'm kind of hungry.
I'm kind of carrying my computer to the kitchen.
I'm kind of realizing that there's nothing to eat.
I'm kind of eating bran cereal.
I'm kind of liking it.
I'm kind of putting raisons in it.
I'm kind of really liking it.
I'm kind of on my second bowl.
I'm kind of bored of telling you what I'm doing. This isn't instagram.
I couldn't resist it.
Icon for Hire+Nightcore=Chipmunks with electric guitars that somehow sounds amazing.
Pieces is one of the most fun ones to listen to.
I'm sorry if you hate Nightcore and you trusted me...but dude, this is kind of awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvv-2uojYXE
I'm aware that some of Icon for Hire's fans don't like their new song. So I decided I'd show them what their old sound is. They released an EP a few years ago, and it's always interesting to go back and see how much a band has improved.
I feel like Icon for Hire was always a good band. I feel like they've improved and now they can experiment a bit. If you listen to their old songs, you can tell that at the very least they've gotten better recording equipment. Ariel is a much better singer now. I mean, she was good before, but she has improved a lot. I feel like the lyrics now have more rhyme or...I don't know....run together more smoothly. The format of the songs has gotten better. It overall feels smoother. The guitars, drum, and bass just....I am going to go on forever....they all have gotten better. The music has improved.
There is one thing people who are disappointed with the new album will like:
Icon for Hire used to be darker.
They used to incorporate a bit of screaming into the music. However, Ariel does use some more intense singing now.
There isn't as many electronic touches, which some people may like.
Carried Away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vmnT4kYa0g
Call Me Alive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPjo9X0RN1U
Sno, that's apparently the name. I also don't believe it was on their EP. I believe it was just an older song...it's very interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNSO6WD94e4
Fall Apart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pkg8zTJFXCs
This is all I could find for now. There are EP versions of songs from Scripted, but you can find those on your own.
Because life is disappointing.
I've been wanting to talk about this song, as well as Watch Me. I mainly wanted to talk about it because she's rapping at the beginning of the song, and it's very different. I almost don't know if I would classify this song as rock. It almost seems like pop, but some thought was put into this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK54ifGNZ4U
Do you guys like the song?
I don't have much time to post anything, so let's make the most of it.
By the way, feel free to tell your friends about this blog. Or if you're like me and don't have many friends, then...alright. That's cool.
So I've been listening to a bit of Icon for Hire's new music lately and think that if you liked their previous album, Scripted, you'll probably like this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL47U1W7MZo
So cool. My job is done.
And yes, I put the picture on the left side. What are you going to do about it?
They've released a new album. It's out on iTunes.
It's really different. It seems to take a bunch of nursery rhymes and add a dark, alternative rock, electronic twist to it.
Here's Nerves:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPlKQ7afsL8
The rest of the songs should be in the suggested videos. I have yet to listen to more songs.
A lot of their fans are saying that this album isn't as good. It's definitely different. From what I've heard so far, it's generally slower. The singing in some songs is WAY more powerful than the ones on their previous albums. They seem to have added more electronic touches, and I haven't heard many instruments from the orchestra playing in the background, which I heard a lot on some of their older songs.
The format of the songs are generally the same. There are really good lyrics that stick in your head without being too pop-ish. The message of the songs are pretty much the same, which is a good sign that the rest of the album I haven't listened to will be awesome. They're not changing their opinions on what they believe it.
One thing that I don't like is that more electronics have been added and less instruments. At some points in their songs, the electronics just totally fit and complete the song. At other points it's just too much and ruins that part of the song. Also, at points the singing just sounds kind of...too different. Like....it doesn't really fit or help the song....
Also...I think my least favorite song from them so far is "Think I'm Sick." It's an example of everything I just listed I didn't like.
What do you think?
I just found this band. I was reading in the comments of Icon for Hire's new song premiere, and somebody said that one of the members was involved with this band. Or is this band. I don't really know, but I do know that I like this music.
It's Resolution by Glasslands http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm2d_zUyOgE
Can I just say that both bands are awesome, and that it would be amazing if Ariel and Josh did a duet? That would just the best thing in the world. I hope that one of the songs on Icon for Hire's new album will have them singing together.
The record label this was released on labeled this as a song premiere, but it wasn't quite a full song, so let's call it a song leak so this can officially become a segment.
It's Sugar and Spice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr0Jx59aScs
I really liked this, because it seems like it will be one of their slower songs, which I've been waiting to hear after they released Cynics and Critics and Watch Me. What do you guys think? Also, near the end of the clip, aren't there two voices singing? It at least sounds like it, and it's just perfect.
If you guys like it, their album should be out October 15th, which is only ten days from now!
Let's just do another one. It's an Icon for Hire lyric.
"All we've got left is a sorry pile of hearts. I'm getting out, gonna write myself a new start."
Here's the full song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS8sqgBgzG8
I just really liked these lyrics for some reason. The whole album Scripted just had really good rhymes, great song themes, and clever word play. You will probably see some more of their lyrics on another post.
Oh, I'm too good to you guys. Two find your favorites in one day. The bands today are Picture me Broken, Icon for Hire, and Bring me the Horizon. I chose these bands because they're different but they have some similarities.
1. Do you like screaming instead of soft singing?
A. Yeah!
B. Nononono...please...no
C. I could go either way
2. Do you like music with some electronic touches?
A. Yes!
B. No..not at all
C. Don't care.
3. Piano or electric guitars?
A. Electric guitars, drums, the bass, I want them all
B. Piano, or at least acoustic guitar

From Bring me the Horizon, you'll have to bear with me. They're a metal band. You'll be lucky if you find 1 song you like. So, these are the best songs I could find for you:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWX-viFi1FE
If you got mostly C's or none of your answers make any sense, here's some random songs.
Picture me Broken:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okCcL8daFAg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_Vez_aKIyI
So...there you go. It was really hard for me to find something for the B's. I did the best I could.
This will hopefully be a new segment. I thought this would be an interesting thing to do. So, if a band has some song leaks, I'll show you guys and we can kind of predict what the album will be like. These song leaks are going to be particularly fun to do, because the band is kind of changing their musical style. It's Watch Me by Icon for Hire.
Here's the first teaser they released for the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPbF_ZyRzf4
Most people thought it was really different and didn't really like it. The band even ADMITTED it was a risk to release it. So, the fans were starting to get a bit disappointed. I was a little disappointed, too. I'll admit. Recently, they released this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DgPCEAglUE
Holy crap! I couldn't believe it was part of the same song. I can tell that their album is going to have some more electronic touches, but I kind of like it. Most of their fans were kind of amazed. What do you think?
You might know Icon for Hire from their first album, Scripted. This band is all about going against the grain and disputing against society's ideals of perfection. You can tell by their new song, Cynics and Critics that they still have their same opinions.
In this song, they have some really awesome electronic touches and just epic music. The singer practically screams into the microphone at some points there were soft vocals in the background, and when they were blended together, it just sounded amazing. Overall, this song is...well...amazing.
You can hear the song at:
