Undergroundmusicblog announcements

Hello. If you are reading this, I am no longer blogging on this blog. But, there are almost 250 posts, so feel free to look through them. Even though it won't be new music, it'll still be good music.
So . . . bye.

*This is 12/23/13. I changed the polls slightly so that you can vote until 1/1/24. That's almost ten years from now. I at least wanted any people who happened to be visiting to be able to vote. I didn't extend it any longer because this blog will either get deleted or aliens will cause mass chaos by deleting the internet or murdering that huge satellite in space.
Thought you might want to know that my friend has a blog, and we are very alike. http://www.electricperspectivemusic.blogspot.com/
Yeah.
Oh well. Yeah. This blog is kind of . . . dead.
I guess this is goodbye. Again. Because it's a second goodbye, it's awkwarder, so there's no way to wrap this up. But I'm not a writer or anything, and this is the internet, so I can cut myself off midsentence and add three little dots afterwards . . .

Quiz #1

I'm adding yet another segment.
This has gotten to a point where I almost never make normal posts, it's just all segments.
But I've been wanting to do this one for a while and decided I might as well now.
It's basically a quiz, BUT WITH A TWIST.
If you get most or all of the answers right, I'll give you a link to what I think is their best song or one that I would recommend my friends listen to if I had any. If you get most of the answers wrong, I'll give you a link to what I think is their worst song. However, some bands make really good music all of the time, so you will probably be happy with the link I give you no matter what. KEEP THAT IN MIND BEFORE YOU BITE MY HEAD OFF.
It's all so you get more clarity about my musical taste.
*ALSO, these facts are from the internet. So....some may be wrong. But I'm getting most of these facts from the band's website, so there shouldn't be much of a problem.

Let's begin.
I wanted to give you a band that you might not know very well, so I decided upon Adora. Why not.

   1. About when did Adora become a band?

A. Early 2009
B. Early 2010
C. Early 2011
D. Late 2009

   2. What was the band's first EP titled?

A. The Snake Charmer
B. Skeleton
C. One Word
D. Save Yourself

   3. What song from their second EP was selected to be on Rock Band Network?

A. Room 401
B. Skeleton
C. Cards
D. Breaking Branches

  4. Which song has the lyrics "Life is just a never ending game"?

A. Prologue
B. Epilogue
C. Safe and Sound
D. Eyes on You

Great. You should be done. Remember your answers, and don't cheat.
The answers were B, D, B, A
If you got at least 3/4 of the questions right without using google...cheater...then click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSoekjYNdQE
If you got half of them right, cool, click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To-ImiGPbTI
If you got one of them right....nice effort....click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aO3zCU3KhUQ

Heavy Metal Lyric Dissection-Parkway Drive, Blackout

This is the beginning of a new segment, my friends.
And I'm not going to lie, I got the idea of this segment from A Dose of Buckley's musical autopsy. This is generally just the same thing, except it's supposed to make you like the music, not despise it and wish humans never existed.
But I just wanted to show people who don't like metal that it at least has a meaning, and it's not just pointless screaming.
I chose a random song. It's Blackout by a band called Parkway Drive, who I have never heard of so you won't have to worry about me defending their music and coming up with the most idiotic excuses for their screaming.
To the left, you can listen to the song. I listened to most of it and could make out a word or two. It honestly sounds like.....pointless screaming. But now we'll find out the actual meaning, based on what somebody on the internet thinks the lyrics are. And because this is the internet, some lyrics might be wrong, so if you like this band and I got the lyrics wrong, chill.
And just so you know, the text in black is the lyrics, and the text in gray is my commentary.

Tragedy. Okay. With you so far.
Another day lies broken and lost. Okay. Time is passing by. Continue.
A shattered life cuts the pulse of acceptance. That's a pretty emo lyric.
And all I want is to be something more than this.
Okay. That's cool. You want to strive to be more successful and contribute to something. Good.

Then those lines just kind of repeat.

Sleepless nights spent screaming for answers. Okay. I guess that means that you want to know what you're purpose on earth is, that's at least how it connects to the previous verse.
Cursing sweet venom at a wretched future. Umm....yeah....that's also a dark lyric.
An open casket stained with hope. Okay....so....death is the answer?
Laced with deceit and treachery. Oh. Death is not the answer, which I suppose is an anti-suicide message, depending on how you look at it.
An existence I only wish to forget. ....not too sure what that means. I'm probably looking at the song wrong, but it has meaning.
Why do I always regret? Regret what? What are your getting to....
Those words leave the taste of blood. So...being angry at yourself for doing something stupid makes you....angry.....I'm not good at dissecting lyrics.
Forget my face. So he feels useless.
Just bury everything. He wants to die.

Why do I always let it go? Let what go?
'cause I've let it slip away between my finger tips. Let go of opportunities? What?
I've tried so (I don't want to curse in this blog, but the word start with f and ended with ucking) hard and still I could never gain a true understanding. Understanding of what? You guys are probably annoyed by me, like "This isn't an episode of Dora"
Chocking at our misery. Okay. I get it. You're contemplating the reason for your existence and it's only bringing you pain. Makes sense.

Splinters of failure cut like glass. Alrighty then.
And I'm sick of just pouring myself out into careless hands. Okay. So...you're not as trusting....
Choking on our misery. You're sad.
Splinters of failure cut like glass. ....okay
But I'll put it to rest tonight in the hope that maybe I won't have to wake. Mkay...there's that death thing again....not wanting to wake.I'll put it all to rest tonight. I'm not so sure this is an anti-suicide song.
Forget my face. Yeah...it's not.

Okay. So this is a sad song...about death....possibly suicide...and contemplating your own existence.
WAAAAYYY more meaning than "Hey, I just met you. And this is crraaaaaaaazzzzzzy. But here's ma numba.....call me maybe."

Heavy metal does have meaning.

D's, #1

So....you basically like metal/ emo music, whatever you call it, and you may or may not own a BVB T-shirt.
Cool.
You are going to be very disappointed.
I'm probably going to show you a band that you do not like at all.
And if you do like it, you probably already know who they are.
In fact, the band I'm about to show you is Bring Me The Horizon.
In fact, because I'm so confident that you already know who they are, I'll just give you a link to here:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=bring+me+the+horizon&sm=1
So.......
another quiz?
This will hopefully bring you more specific results.

     1. Do you like softer music?

A. No.
B. Yes.
C. Either way.

A's, go here. I'll just give you a random band: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/as-5.html
B's, cool, go here: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/bs-5.html
C's, also cool, go here: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/cs-5.html

A's #1

Why helllloooooo there. If you got mostly A's, hello hello hello.
So...let's see your results.
Your favorite band that you had to choose from is Green Day, your favorite song by Paramore is Ignorance or something, am I right? And you generally like punk music. Cool.
I'm going to let you in on a secret and tell you that I don't listen to too much punk music. Most of the stuff I listen to is alternative and rock. So I can't help you too much.
However, I do know one band that makes punk music that is not Green Day, but I have mentioned on the blog before. It's Drones.

Here's their most popular song, and my favorite by them. It's called Burnt Stitches. It's the one in black and white.
Here's Assassins of Youth. It's the one that's not in black in white, but it's below the black and white one.
The last one I'll show is called Shells Fall, Pins Pulled. It's the one with the drummer.

So I hope you like that band. Here's your second set of questions:

     1. Do you like Evanescence?

A. Yes.
B. No.
C. Never heard of them.

     2. Even though you like punk, do you like to listen to softer and slower music as well?

A. Yeah.
B. Nah.
C. I'm so torn between both choices.....

     3. Do you like female lead singers?

A. Yes.
B. No.
C. It does not matter.

If you got mostly A's, follow this link and read it: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/as-2.html
If you got mostly B's, go here and get out of my sight, I mean, go here: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/bs-2.html
If you got mostly C's....then you are horrible at making decisions. Go here: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/cs-2.html

B's, #1

Hello there. I'm told that you like Paramore, Still Into You, and Rock or some strange sub genre that falls under that category.
So....I'm just asking....but have you ever heard of Cherri Bomb?
If not, here are some songs.

Too Many Faces. It's the one with the strange face. Oh my gosh, it looks like she's eating the play button.
NOM NOM NOM.
Next is Paper Doll. It's a lyric video...so it has lyrics on it...
And last....why not Let It Go? It's the one in black and white.
Now for some more questions.

     1. How many underground bands do you listen to? (for this question, underground will mean a band that maybe only 1000 people know about)

A. 1 or none...
B. 2 to 4.
C. 4 to 6.
D. 7 and up.

     2. What is your LEAST favorite band of the four below...if you don't know who any of them are, count this question as A, you'll see why later.

A. Anavae
B. Follow You Home
C. Blameshift
D. Fighting the Villain

     3. Do you like Nutella?

A. No, because I am a sad person with no personality.
B. Not really/ I have an allergy to one of the ingredients
C. Yeah, it's alright.
D. I love Nutella. In fact, I witnessed the day where Nutella descended from the heavens.

You know the drill.

C's, #1

Hello there. So I'm told that you like My Chemical Romance, Misery Business, and alternative. We have a very similar music taste, so I'm really just going to show you a band that I like that you may not know.
I kind of wanted to talk about Atrium, just because thinking of their music makes me really nostalgic. They were really one of the first bands that got me into this genre of music.
Let's begin.

The first song I heard by them was Alive. It's the only one that looks like it could be a music video.
The next song is Missing in Me which is another nice song by them. Because something isn't working, here's a link to the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWdFZ8WbH0E
The last song by them that I want to show you is Escape. I haven't really listened to it, but it's one of the only songs by them I can really show you.
Now you get to find another awesome band.

     1. Do you like Reachback?

A. Yes.
B. No.
C. Who?

     2. Do you like Hey Monday?

A. Yes...but they broke up....
B. No.
C. Once again...who?

Band Reviews: Follow You Home

I've listened to a few of Follow You Home's songs and saw the band on a few websites, so I thought I would listen to them and see if they're a good band or not.

The first song I listened to was Save Yourself. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNtBZ6jP--8)
It had an alright beginning. A nice guitar riff, good chord progressions. The singer sounds alright. She doesn't sound very powerful, but she can sing. I also like the screams, that was a nice touch. I think it's pretty cool that they were able to make the song interesting and still let it flow together nicely. It's overall a good song.

The next song I listened to was Void. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO9E_g9hPo4)
A slower beginning than the songs I've previously heard by them, but it picks back up. It is somehow a soft song, even with the drums, bass, and guitars. They added just a hint of a scream towards the end of the song. The harmonies sound nice and everything came together in an unexplainable but beautiful way.

Last song I listened to was What's to Say You're Not Alone. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ8drn-6Izw)
This is probably the best song that I've heard by them. I'm not going to focus so much on the instruments in this song. Yeah, they sounded really awesome, but I want to focus more on the singing. I feel like the lead singer did really well in this song. She's using a bit more of her vocal range, and that's really what was missing from the other songs. Good lyrics. Good singing. Good chord progression. Good guitar riffs. Good song.

Let's look at the positives that this band has showed me through the three songs I've heard by them:
  • Nice guitar riffs
  • Nice chord progressions
  • Decent singer
  • Decent lyrics
  • Knowing how to make their songs different and interesting without making them sound weird
      *  Also, I liked the screaming, and the lead singer's hair.

Let's look at the negative:
  • Through most of the songs, the lead singer didn't sound too interesting. She was just kind of supporting the music, and generally lead singer's are fronting the band or representing the music
Overall, they're a talented band that deserve more recognition than they get. I have to give them a 3 out of 5 stars. They're a decent band that makes decent music. Even though they're not the best, I'm looking forward to seeing what music they'll put out in the future.

Guess the band #1 (answers)

Okay. Somebody guessed. So cool. Here's the original post: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/guess-band-1.html
It's The New Royalty. Never heard of them? Of course you haven't.
Let's go over what my clues were.

I said that the lead singer was a girl. Well....here's visual evidence. Take note of the hair and maybe general fact that she is a girl....don't need to go into too much detail.

I said that the band got most of its views because someone said that one of their songs was a Paramore song. This was before Paramore came out with the self-titled album and people were so excited to her some good old alternative rock from their favorite artist. I don't think you can find the video now, but it was there. I promise you.

I said that I've posted about them twice. That is true. Here is the first post: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/09/guilty-pleasures-6.html
Here is the second post, which is very recent: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/song-leaks-3.html

I also said that they did a cover of Dream On live, and I said this because I was running out of ideas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4UMicV7PZM

So...yeah. Some original songs by them are:
Here I Go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2PgMBzKjxU
On My Own: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmaoPZP99sQ
I'll Remember You, which I actually don't really like. 90 people on youtube agree with me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JizOnnUS_TU
But the first two songs are good, even though they are extremely simple. They definitely have room for improvement, and I believe they will. They released a teaser for a song called Angels, and I think that will be better.

Guess the band #1

In case you missed it, I just introduced a new segment and you can find out how it works here: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/guess-band-coming-soon.html
Assuming you've read that, let's begin.
*By the way, these are going to be kind of hard considering most of the bands I'm going to talk about don't have a fanbase of over 500 people, but it's still fun to guess.
Here are the clues:
  • This band has a female lead singer.
  • This band got most of its views on a video that said it was a new Paramore song, but it wasn't. I know that's kind of general...but oh well.
  • I've posted about them twice. One was a song leak and one was a guilty pleasure.
  • This band did a cover of Dream On live....
Very general clues. Have fun figuring it out.

Poll Results #1

This will be a new segment and will be the least often segment. There will only be 12 in a year, unless I want things to be special.
The poll has JUST closed. You can't vote anymore.

The first question was:
Do you know any of these bands?
The choices were Picture me Broken, Nine Lashes, Fit for Rivals, and We Are The Ocean.
And people actually voted, so there actually were results. And you were allowed to vote more than once, so the numbers are a little off, but it's alright.
7 people knew who Picture me Broken are.
5 people knew who Nine Lashes are.
6 people knew who Fit for Rivals are.
And We Are The Ocean was tied with Picture me Broken.
What this tells me is that I need to show you guys some more Nine Lashes, so that's what I'm going to do. Now, in one post I believe I warned you that I was going to screw up your brain with this, but it's in the spirit of undergroundmusicblog. I have to get you guys to be more familiar with the least popular band, because if you already know the band, then what's the point?

The next question was:
What is your favorite song of the four below by Green Day?
The choices were Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Basket Case, Last Night on Earth, and Wake me up when September Ends.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams got 17 votes.
Basket Case got 2 puny little votes.
Last Night on Earth got 5.
Wake me up When September Ends got 3.
It's obvious which one won.
So I decided I'd make you guys happy.

The last question was about your favorite Undergroundmusic segment, and Guilty Pleasures got 7 votes, which was the most, so you can look forward to one of those soon.
I will put up a new poll after this is posted and you guys can start voting as soon as you like.

A-Z bands #1

A new segment that ties in with playlists, which will also be a new segment.
Segment overload.
Basically, A-Z bands is a playlist I've compiled. The requirements for a band to be in the playlist:
  • Their band name must start with a letter, or, at least contain letters.
  • The band can't be pop, rap, jazz, whatever. It's mainly rock, metal, alternative, pop rock, punk, pop punk, punk pop, what's the difference?
Also, this playlist is missing a few videos, because I couldn't find a band name that started with K, W, X, Y, or Z. Please comment some band names....to help me out.
I'll tell you right now that some of the bands I haven't heard of before. Like UnderOATH, never heard of them.
Here is the first playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWdFZ8WbH0E&list=PLjvotRiAUyLiUsugJTX8KxguB_2HeSLIr
There.

Challenge prizes

Like I said, I wanted to do something interactive that you could all be a part of, and I couldn't quite do that, but I could do this.
I made a youtube account and I put together some playlists of songs and everything is right here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCptT1mk3evlBIaESQbBvP0Q
So subscribe to be updated on things, because if I can't post anything I can just like a video and if you're subscribed, you'll know about it.

Also, we'll be starting a new segment where I explain the playlists I've been making.

I don't know what the surprise should be...I mean...it surprised me.
Okay, how about a rant on people who listen to both metal bands and One Direction:
If you listen to both metal and One Direction, then who are you? You can't go to a Bring me the Horizon concert wearing ripped skinny jeans and totally going berserk doing guitar solos, and then head over to a One Direction concert wearing some flowing dress with your hands waving in the air "You don't know you're beautiful." It doesn't work that way. You're either with us or against us.

Well...there you go. This might be a little disappointing.
Guys I tried.
*Also, HOLY CRAP WE GOT ANOTHER PAGEVIEW FROM UKRAINE. THE BLUE AND YELLOW FLAG RETURNS! HOORAY!

Pre-prize #1

This won't be a segment, but I'll do one before every challenge. In case you missed it, the challenge is a special segment I'll do after the blog reaches a certain milestone.
This won't be too fun, but I thought it would be really interesting to do.

Okay, pick a letter A, B, C, D, E, or F
Think of a band name that starts with the letter your chose.
Repeat, using the same letter. (Example, P, Paramore, Picture me Broken)
Alright, now chose another letter. It has to be an A, B, C, D, E or F.
Now think of a song that starts with that letter by one of the bands you chose. (I made you chose two bands so you have more options.) (Example, P, Paramore, Picture me Broken, and Now by Paramore)
Comment your results.
Mine were A, Adora, Atrium, and Breaking Branches by Adora. The reason I wanted to do this is because I will feature some of the songs or bands you comment about, and I want to get a sense of what music you listen to so I can show you really awesome bands that you will like.

Okay, the challenge is coming soon, it will be very special.

Debate-Paramore

This will kind of be a new segment. It'll be listed under "segments" so I guess it'll be a segment.
I wanted to make a segment where you get an opinion and you can voice something instead of just clicking on a link and liking or disliking a song.
This is sure to cause arguments in the comments, once people actually comment on the blog.
Today we'll be debating about Paramore. It's whether or not you like the old Paramore, (songs from All We Know is Falling, Riot!, Brand New Eyes with the Farro brothers) or new Paramore (self-titled album without the Farro brothers)

Let's talk about old Paramore first. I personally like old Paramore because they released some of my favorite songs like Ignorance, Decode, Fences, Let the Flames Begin, etc. Also, Zac was a really good drummer in the band, and with the Farro brothers still in the band they released alternative rock music. Also, every one of their albums from All We Know is Falling to Brand New Eyes just improved. Hayley's singing became more powerful, she had more control, maybe a wider range, Taylor, Josh, Zac, and Jeremy all just improved as musicians, and the songs gradually become more complex and expressed deeper thoughts.

Now onto new Paramore. I was so excited when I heard that Paramore was going to release a new album. I just bought a band T-Shirt, I was on youtube and I was ready to listen to Now. I double-checked to make sure I was listening to Paramore. It sounded nothing like them. Without the Farro brothers, the band just kind of fell apart. Yes, before then they released some great songs like Monster and In the Mourning, and Monster is also one of my favorite songs by them, but the new album just disappointed me. Their entire style changed. They did release some great songs on the album. I personally like Anklebiters, the interludes, and Part II. But songs like Ain't it Fun and Still Into You just really don't sound like them. A lot of people like these songs, but when you compare them to songs like Pressure and Brighter, you can barely tell they're the same band. It's true, a band won't stay the same forever. We can't expect them to keep writing simple songs with power chords and simple lyrics. I just don't feel like they exactly changed for the best.

Now it's your decision. Do you like old Paramore or new Paramore? Argue below in the comments. After 10 comments, I'll tell you guys who won.

My Reaction To Sleeping with Sirens

This is a new segment called My Reaction To. There are some really popular bands I hear people talk about all of the time and I have yet to listen to.
How it works is I'll watch a lyric video first and tell you what I think. Then I'll watch a music video and basically dissect their entire discography.
Okay, that was an exaggeration. I'll basically listen to five songs and say "Umm, that's alright" or "My ears need to go to the hospital."
I hear people talk a lot about Sleeping with Sirens. I saw somebody wearing a band t-shirt and just generally hear people talking about them a lot.
So here we go.
I'm watching a lyric video for Dead Walker Texas Ranger. It's actually not too bad. It's about zombies, isn't it? But I kind of like this song. I can definitely see why people like them. I like it, except for the unnecessary curse word at the end. I feel like it kind of took away from the song. But the rest was good. Here's the video I watched:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDDIjmve7f0
Now I'm listening to Disasterology. I don't like this one as much. It's not bad, but I prefer the other one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6anzgEcK6M
Now I'm listening to Million Dollar Houses. I like this, except for the autotune in the beginning. People are saying that it's supposed to represent the greed of the music industry, but I don't think it's as well thought as that. I think it was used to just add an effect, I don't think there's a meaning. I mean, it's not being used because the lead singer needs it. But it's an alright song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDNbeppZTgg
I'm editing this a few hours later, and before you bite my head off, I realize this is a Pierce the Veil song, but the bands do sound similar.
Now onto the music videos.
This is If You Can't Hang. The beginning is cool. First verse....um.....yeah I don't like this song as much as the others. Here it is anyways. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UwWYtLWEZg
The next is James Dean, Audrey Hepburn, but there are more words in between that are too unimportant to mention. Are their songs just generally about girls? But this actually is a good song. I quite like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poZLiypLJzQ
Okay, so I'm going to stop here. There are two songs I like from them so far, but probably won't become my favorite band. The lead singer's voice is really different, and I'm still deciding whether or not I like it.
So, I know a lot of people may not like this segment because the fanbase of these bands are mainly 15 year old scene girls. But oh well. The point of this blog is to show you music. That's what I'm doing.

Favorite Songs #1

I felt like doing a segment where I don't show you horrible music.
By the way, this will hopefully be the last segment I make for a while, and by a while, I mean a week. I'll try to restrain myself.
Most of the songs that I really like, I've already showed you. So I've been on a hunt for new music.
Before we begin, I wanted to define favorite song. In my opinion, a favorite song is a song you can't stop listening to. Most of the time, I can't stop listening to it for a short period of time, and then I move on to some other song that's better.
I had to delve into the past, so these won't be my current favorite songs.
If you're wondering, my current favorite is Anthem of the Lonely by Nine Lashes, but I've already talked about them.

So the song that I used to really like that I'll be talking about today is Breaking and Entering by Tonight Alive. Again, it's not my current favorite song, but it was all I would listen to for two weeks a year ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc6lhFWhofA
I still have a tiny obsession with that song.
As long as we're on the topic of Tonight Alive, I used to also like this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReDe0-Wg00A
I also have a small obsession with that song as well.

I really never know how to end these things. I kind of just want to stop after that, because I can never find a clever way to end something and leave the reader satisfied.
Oh well.

10 signs you've been living under a rock

A new segment.
Don't look at me like that.
The different thing about this segment is that it will have an end. There will only be 10.
Basically, I'll show you some really popular bands, and at the end of this series, you'll be able to find out if you've been living under a rock.
The first one is a huge sign that you've been living under a rock. If you don't know this band, then I can guarantee that you haven't looked in the comments on youtube. If you don't know this band, then you also don't know what rage you will get for comparing other bands to this band.

Paramore.

Not only is Paramore one of the most popular female fronted bands of today, but it is among the few female fronted bands in their genre that have gotten radio play and millions of fans.
You might have heard them on the radio and didn't know it. Here's some of the songs I personally have heard on the radio that I really like. Of course, lots of their songs have been on the radio, but these are just some of the more popular ones:

Misery Business: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCyGvGEtOwc
Ignorance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH9A6tn_P6g
The Only Exception: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J7J_IWUhls

If you don't like those, they've released a whole new album with a much different sound:

Still Into You: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OblL026SvD4
Now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G133kjKy91U
Ain't it Fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDQt4KLRT4M

Lots of people compare less popular female fronted bands to Paramore. If you open your eyes, you'll see that this causes lots of arguments on youtube. But before we go into that, let's talk some more about their songs.

Here's a song from their first album, All we Know is Falling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-MaaxgdUT4
Second, Riot!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kz6hNDlEEg
Third, Brand New Eyes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5howHv3F54
Fourth is a self-titled album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CWhPozi7Kg
And you will continue to live under a rock if you don't know this Twilight soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvnkAtWcKYg

Also, if you want to convince your friends that you don't live under a rock, two of the members of Paramore left the band after Brand New Eyes. It caused a pretty big change in the music. If you know that, it will just make you understand....life...I guess...not really...

So, I hope you found some songs you like, and I also hope you don't feel so proud of yourself because there are nine more reasons why you are living under a rock.
For others, I hope this was a nice trip down memory lane.

Music Videos #1 Courage my Love

I need to stop making new segments.
So, you may already know that this new segment will just be some really cool music videos I want to show you. Yay.
The very first one is Anchors Make Good Shoes (If you have issues)
The song is pretty good, they're not the best actors, but I like it.

The second is I Sell Comics
I think they made it for a contest, and it's pretty cool.

The last is an acoustic version of their song The River.
Hope you like these videos/songs :)
Wow...that's the first smiley face I've used.
...I feel kind of ashamed.

Youtube Search #1

This is yet another new segment. I thought it would be really interesting, because we both get to find new music. How this works is, I'll randomly search youtube and show you the bands that suck the least. The requirements for a band to be on here is for the video to have more likes than dislikes, and for it not to be completely metal and screamo without absolutely no meaning. Basically, it can't be a band that will break up in 2 months and is composed of teenagers who found an out of tune electric guitar and some really loud dude, and then got a sick band name.
Now, obviously, we'll have to start somewhere. I just searched Paramore, so most of the bands will probably be female-fronted. I'll just look through their songs until a new band comes up.
  1. Our first band is This Sanctuary. The song is called Run, and it's not horrible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A19_UUTZxLs
  2. Good start. The next song is also by This Sanctuary. Well...I mean...that sounds reasonable. It's Rumour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPpEQQy1Y6c
  3. Also by This Sanctuary, I Do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxaSEic7IZg There's a very slow beginning, but if you liked their other songs, it'll be worth the wait.
  4. The next is not by This Sanctuary. They kind of remind me of Nine Lashes. I'm looking in the suggestions, and I found two Nine Lashes songs. That makes sense. Anyways, the song is by Pandorum, and it's called Fearless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y-niRfYCHA
  5. The next song...the more I listen to it, the more I like it. The band is Silent Season, and the song is Chance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y-niRfYCHA There was lots of positive feedback in the comments, like people saying it changed their life for the better, so I'm telling you about it mainly because of this.
  6. The next song is In Your Eyes by Stealing Eden. So much for most of the bands being female fronted..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPe2bWVY9VE
  7. The next is Like a Storm-Lie to Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA2tlWPWhjw
  8. Okay, I'll be honest. I've never been on a part of youtube where there are only good songs. Without Tomorrow-Broken: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsLOiBoMOcA
  9. Then my laptop shut off. Great. I guess that concludes today's youtube search.

Bands I used to like #1

Here's another new segment. Don't worry, one day I'll go back and add some posts to the other segments I started.
But this is a necessary segment. All of the bands I mention are bands that I used to really like and now just ask myself why I ever listened to them.
You may or may not know that when I started to get into alternative rock, I listened to a lot of female fronted bands that turned out to actually be pop rock or punk pop. I still do kind of like them, but not enough to be a guilty pleasure.

The first band is Halocene. They're a pretty good band. The lead singer has a nice voice and they definitely put a lot of work into their music. So no, they're not a bad band. However, their genre of music just seems kind of weird compared to what I tend to listen to now.
So let's take you through my musical history with them:
  1.  I was randomly clicking through youtube and found this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_swSQOyB88
  2.  That's pretty much the only song I listened to by them for a few months.
  3.  I was randomly clicking through youtube once again and found some of their less popular music that I liked as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJNTCtXHK_s, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULTbmgRgyRM
  4. I look back, and I'm kind of confused.
  5.  Even though I didn't like the band as much, I really respected them because of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2PDqpJ3aDE

There's not much history. I admit, I still do listen to them a little bit. They are a good band, but it's no longer my music taste.
So, I either hope you can relate with me, that you found a band you like, or that you learned something new, or that this was a nice way for you to kill time.
