Undergroundmusicblog announcements

Hello. If you are reading this, I am no longer blogging on this blog. But, there are almost 250 posts, so feel free to look through them. Even though it won't be new music, it'll still be good music.
So . . . bye.

*This is 12/23/13. I changed the polls slightly so that you can vote until 1/1/24. That's almost ten years from now. I at least wanted any people who happened to be visiting to be able to vote. I didn't extend it any longer because this blog will either get deleted or aliens will cause mass chaos by deleting the internet or murdering that huge satellite in space.
Thought you might want to know that my friend has a blog, and we are very alike. http://www.electricperspectivemusic.blogspot.com/
Yeah.
Oh well. Yeah. This blog is kind of . . . dead.
I guess this is goodbye. Again. Because it's a second goodbye, it's awkwarder, so there's no way to wrap this up. But I'm not a writer or anything, and this is the internet, so I can cut myself off midsentence and add three little dots afterwards . . .

A's, #4

Okay. So...you like Reachback and Hey Monday. I really don't care if you know who Reachback is or not, all that matters is that you like Hey Monday. So I'm just going to show you some female fronted band with a great lead singer, or at least above mediocre.
I'll show you We Are The In Crowd, but because that was a pain to write out, I'll just call them WATIC.

I've made probably 20 posts like this today, so this is getting boring.
The first song is Rumor Mill. It's the one where the girl is like "HELL YEAH I'M IN A BAND!" and the guy is like "I'm singing....singing a soooonnnnnnnggggggg."
The next song is Both Sides Of The Story. It's the one where the guy is picking his nose and the girl is like "OH MY GOODNESS.....DAT'S GROSS...EWW....."
The last song is On Your Own. It's the video that kind of looks like a blur.

To find some more music, click here: http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/200th-post.html
It'll take you to the very first post.

B's, #4

So you don't like Reachback or Hey Monday. That's fine.
But holy crap...this band is very different from them.
Have you ever heard of To Paint The Sky? Well...you're about to know who they are.

The first song The Ghost You'll Never Know. It's the one with the girl who looks like she's screaming, but she's really just intensely singing.
The next song is Burn Away. It's the one with the girl looking intently into the distance.
The last song is called Closure. It's the one that looks like an ad for their song.

So....I hope you found one song that you might be able to like through this journey. If not, you can restart here:  http://undergroundmusicblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/200th-post.html

Youtube Search #4....I think it's 4.....yeah, it's 4, it has to be 4

Okay....I promised I wouldn't make another post about LostAlone for at least a day...
I can't help it. They're an amazing band with amazing lyrics, amazing harmonies, amazing everything and I just can't help it...
I decided I'd do another youtube search. Now that I have an audience, even though it's small, it's an audience, I can now tell which posts are actually read and which ones really aren't. Youtube Searches tend to get a few views, so I thought, why not.
You can do youtube searches yourself, but this way you can skip right through a majority of the crud.

Let's start.
Okay....this is close enough to not crud. I find that these things get better as we get towards the end. This is Cough it Up by Evarose: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnDajhhVNiI
Next is This Love, Motions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lGycT8aXm0 It seems like a kind of soft song, but it's nice. I like it.
Wolves At The Gate, Oh The Depths: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvMUEVAJ0Q8 I should probably mention that there is screaming in here in case you happen to not like screaming. If you do, well...here you go.
I just clicked on a beautiful ten minute long piano song....I almost cried. Now I clicked on this. It's Deaf Havana, Smiles All Around: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyRRJz4P7ZE If you liked Motions, you should like this. It's a similar genre, I don't think there's any screaming.
*It is a very boring music video.
And I've landed myself in a weird watermelon explosion part of youtube so we'll stop here.

Cool. Hope you like it. Remember, you can share it or something...I don't know. There's some + button and I think you can share posts. Oh well...I'll never know.

Bands I used to like #6/For people who like Tonight Alive

The band I'm going to talk about today is Highways.
I really struggled to put them into 3 different categories to present them to you. I could just present them to you as a band you should go listen to, but they're very similar to Tonight Alive, but I don't really listen to them any more.
So here you. Let's start off with telling you why they are similar to Tonight Alive:
  • The members of the band are from Australia, so the lead singers have the same accents.
  • The overall genre of music is the same, or at least very similar.
  • The lead singers are both very powerful and talented.
  • The structure of the songs are similar. Kind of like a loud intro, soft verse, then they exploded at the chorus, then they have a 2nd verse that kind of leads up to the chorus, then the chorus, then the transition, then the last chorus, then they somehow tie things up perfectly.
And the reason why they are a band that I used to like is because I just don't listen to them anymore.

So here are a few songs from Highways:
Hero: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLauNT9Xv5Y
Us Against the World: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1Z9QWRDRRU
Ever Since: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caBgkrPFmE0

Now some songs from Tonight Alive:
Wasting Away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhdaCt2DhE0
Listening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo5aZYdSqxI
Breaking and Entering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc6lhFWhofA

Hope you like this. If not then...that's your opinion.

Favorite Songs #4

I used to be pretty obsessed with a band called Damone. I listened to one of their songs and didn't think much of it. About a year later, I found them again and loved the song.
The first song I was obsessed with was Out Here All Night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBqoHfeRNaE
The second song I became obsessed with by them was What We Came Here For: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh_1jmvq5e4
I hope you like the songs, because the band broke up a long time ago.
I know.
However, the lead singer is in a band called the Organ Beats, which is totally a sick band name, and I might talk about them in another post.

My Reaction To Blink 182

Before you completely just rip my head off, I have listened to them a bit before, but not nearly enough to make a preference about my favorite song by them or be knowledgeable about anything they have ever done.
I just realized this is a sequel to the segment "10 signs you live under a rock."
Let's just go ahead and start.
The first song I'm going to listen to is Always. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nOV0vVfw8c
Here's the music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvtJVku_mJw
It's alright so far. The lyrics are pretty simple. It's not necessarily an interesting song.
Next is Adam's song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUsOK8Dlw7I
Here's the music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MRdtXWcgIw
Nice song. Cool video.
Now here is basically their most popular song. It's I Miss You. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1tAYmMjLdY
The music video is interesting...I suppose. I like the song itself. I've heard on the radio before, it's alright.
Now for All The Small Things. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ht5RZpzPqw
I've heard this song before. I don't like the video, but I see that it's making fun of boy bands, which I respect.
Now...I'm going to listen to some new stuff, which I always got scared about....
Here's After Midnight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H86730HjLVA
Okay, the song is alright. I'm really sorry that I'm not using better words to describe my feelings. Cool music video, though. Very cute, and I will never use that word again.

I really don't see myself listening to too much of them. I can definitely see why people like them so much, though. And I guess the only important thing about listening to new music is respecting and understanding how other people would feel about it.

But they're an alright band.

Music Videos #4

I felt like I needed to make one of these, but I don't know what video to talk about.
I wanted to feature a new band I've never talked about, and I kind of don't want to feature a singer...it just wouldn't feel right.
I kind of wanted to do Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore but decided against it...
I kind of also want to talk about Still Into You by Paramore, because they clearly just wanted to make that video to play with balloons, and that was their best excuse.
But I decided not to do that as well...
Hopefully this won't just be an entire post of me not being able to find the right video.
Okay, I'm going to break some rules.
But there are no rules yet, so I'll be a hipster and break rules before they exist.
Here are the nonexistent rules I'm going to break:
  • Use a rather popular video
  • Use a video from guilty pleasures, the segment, you know
It's Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold.
I used to only kind of like it, but now I'm completely fine with saying I like it.
I like Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold, because it's an awesome song.
Also, if you're under 12, I don't suggest watching this.

By the way, at about 4:15, somebody make a gif or a meme of that guy's face. Just please. If someone already has, let me know. I try to take the video seriously but just die laughing at that part.
Which is all the more reason for my parents to think I have mental issues.
But aside from that, I hope you like this meaningless and long post.

10 signs you've been living under a rock #4

My internet connection is really slow and frustrating, so I won't be able to post as much, but I'll try to post at least once a day.
I wanted to do another one of these but didn't really know who to talk about. Part of me wants to talk about Black Veil Brides, but I actually don't like them very much and noticed that a lot of other people don't.
So we'll just talk about Evanescence.
The problem with using Evanescence is that I think they're slightly losing popularity, but that doesn't change the fact that they've released amazing music. Amy Lee has got to be one of the greatest singers of all time, the guitar riffs are amazing, and it takes a really talented band to be able to mix opera, violins, and metal.
I will try to get youtube to work and show you some of their most popular songs.
Yay! It worked....crap, I jinxed it...umm....
Oh, here we go. It should work for another minute.

My Immortal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5anLPw0Efmo
Bring me to Life: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YxaaGgTQYM
Going Under: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdhqVtpR2ts
Everybody's Fool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhC1pI76Rqo
Lithium: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJGpsL_XYQI
Hello: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih61MJ72v1Y

You may not be as familiar with Evanescence as Paramore, because it's not often you hear people compare a band to Evanescence, because they're really one of a kind, besides We Are the Fallen, but part of Evanescence is in that band.

So, there you go. If you don't know them, you live under a rock.

Bands I used to like #4

Welcome to another horrible walk down memory lane.
Oh, I'm sorry. Welcome to another Bands I used to like, but they're essentially the same thing.
It's Delta Delta! I'm breaking a rule, because I never did like them. But just like Away We Go!, I have their songs on my iPod. Also, the exclamation point at the end of the bands names is not because I'm enthusiastic about them. It's because they have an exclamation point at the end of their band names.
How about a nice history with Delta Delta!
Again, I'm not enthusiastic.
  1. I was on youtube and I found this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRwk64_MCD0 I didn't like it, but the lead singer's hair had so much promise!
  2. So I listened to this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWPjY0G-OvM It was getting there...again...the lead singer's hair told me to listen to another song.
  3. I listened to this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYZM-vnU4vs I didn't really like it. But look at the lead singer's hair. It had blue in it. That told me that they probably released at least one good song. I'm not sure why.
  4. I listened to this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oc7pNmLBaU Getting closer...just look at the lead singer's hair.
  5. The lead singer's hair told me to buy their song "Grandpa Built a Castle Cake." First of all, I didn't like the song. I liked the hair. And second, what the hell is with these song names?
So, that's the history. I never liked this band. They broke up, so I can say why
  • The lead singer didn't have a strong voice. However, she's in a new band called Midnight Nation, and she's improved a lot.
  • The lyrics were kind of...bland. But in the lead singer's new band Midnight Nation, the lyrics have way better rhymes.
  • The guitars, bass, and drums weren't good enough to distract from the lead singer's voice.
So...that's why I don't like Delta Delta! But the lead singer, Kelc, has a new band called Midnight Nation and I really like their music.

Spotlight Band of the Week #4

It's VersaEmerge.
Here's their most popular song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTlfGImDDtI
VersaEmerge, in case you don't know them, can be compared to Paramore. (I know everybody hates when a female fronted band is compared to Paramore, but screw it, this is to let people kind of know what they're going to hear. And they're both signed to the same record label, but that's more of a fun fact.) They have a slightly darker vibe, and that's a pretty big difference. But, yeah, listen to them.
Also, in a lot of their songs, they have stringed instruments playing in the background which is definitely another difference.

*I should probably tell you that my brain feels dead right now, in case this post just doesn't seem right. I probably should be asleep right now instead of making posts for a blog nobody reads. Well, I haven't checked the stats in a while, but back to VersaEmerge.

Listen to them. Okay?

Spotlight Song of the Week #4

Here we go. So, I didn't plan this out at all, so this will be another random pick.
Okay. It's Junkie by EarlyRise.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iiJ8HQbEMk&feature=c4-overview&list=UU_8sKR7rJrjAYxGOrNZ86-A
It's a really good song and good band. I would have chosen them for band of the week, but I don't really know enough about them to do that. Go and listen to it. That's why I add the links. Use them. (Don't worry, this will be relevant in a year when this blog reaches underground success.)

Guilty Pleasures #4

I'm going to just say it....So Alone by Anna Blue
I'm going to spoil some of the surprise this time. This song is supposed to be a 30 second ring tone. Also, most of the rhymes are so simple it sounds like something you would sing in preschool. I'm pretty sure Anna Blue doesn't exist, and it sounds like a nine year-old sang it. I think I liked it ironically, but then it magically ended up on my iPod.
You can now judge me.
