Hello. If you are reading this, I am no longer blogging on this blog. But, there are almost 250 posts, so feel free to look through them. Even though it won't be new music, it'll still be good music. So . . . bye.
*This is 12/23/13. I changed the polls slightly so that you can vote until 1/1/24. That's almost ten years from now. I at least wanted any people who happened to be visiting to be able to vote. I didn't extend it any longer because this blog will either get deleted or aliens will cause mass chaos by deleting the internet or murdering that huge satellite in space. Thought you might want to know that my friend has a blog, and we are very alike. http://www.electricperspectivemusic.blogspot.com/ Yeah. Oh well. Yeah. This blog is kind of . . . dead. I guess this is goodbye. Again. Because it's a second goodbye, it's awkwarder, so there's no way to wrap this up. But I'm not a writer or anything, and this is the internet, so I can cut myself off midsentence and add three little dots afterwards . . .
I thought it was about time we do another. You guys seem to like these, and these posts tend to get the most individual views, and all it takes to make them is one embarrassing scroll on my iPod. Oh right. It's Hey Monday. Now don't lie, when you were 12 or 11, you also liked Hey Monday. So don't tell me that you never did, because you did.
*Look at the picture above. Doesn't that guy ^ look so unnatural? The others look unnatural as well, but he stands.
Now, I liked them before because I was just getting into an alternative taste in music, and they made music that's great for that purpose. Cassadee Pope is an amazing singer, and the band was alright. But that's not really the point of this segment. I don't like them now because:
They wrote sissy songs. The following example is the chorus of "I Don't Wanna Dance."
I don't wanna dance So don't you ask me, babe I don't wanna dance You blew your chance To rock my night away I want some fun Boy, you're so not the one I don't wanna dance So let it go You'll never take me home Take me home Take me home
I'm not into the genre of music they play anymore
I prefer songs with slightly more meaning
Only previously liked 1 song by them
But don't get me wrong, Hey Monday is a great band to transition from listening to pop to alternative. And I know that most of you didn't grow up listening to My Chemical Romance, and your parents probably didn't straighten, tease, and dye their hair during your life. Most of you weren't exposed to the culture and music and probably grew up listening to Kelly Clarkson or songs from Avril Lavigne's first or second album. You probably found this music yourself and might not have been too open to alternative from the start. Therefore, Hey Monday is a great band to listen to if you're first starting to listen to alternative music. At least, that's how it worked out for me. You listen to bands like Hey Monday and Paramore. Then you transition to Green Day and somehow find yourself listening to Slipknot. Here are some songs by Hey Monday: Homecoming: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU0fQIezoK0 I Don't Wanna Dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8R048sqs8BM How You Love Me Now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzBruRwBltE
There. Go ahead and laugh at me. I hope karma bites you in the ass and mysteriously puts a Justin Bieber song on your iPod. Then I hope your family finds out. And I hope they disown you.
So you don't listen to many underground bands at all and you like fairly normal music. You also don't like Nutella for some reason. That's sad. So I'm going to show you a boring, normal band that everybody knows about. Hey Monday. I'll be honest. I don't really like them. To me, it sounds like Taylor Swift if she had scene-ish hair and maybe an electric guitar. They broke up, but oh well. The first song is Homecoming. It's the one that's paused at an awkward moment... Next is How You Love Me Now. It's also paused at an awkward time.... It's purple-ish. Last is I Don't Wanna Dance. It's not paused at an awkward time.
