I'm aware that some of Icon for Hire's fans don't like their new song. So I decided I'd show them what their old sound is. They released an EP a few years ago, and it's always interesting to go back and see how much a band has improved.
I feel like Icon for Hire was always a good band. I feel like they've improved and now they can experiment a bit. If you listen to their old songs, you can tell that at the very least they've gotten better recording equipment. Ariel is a much better singer now. I mean, she was good before, but she has improved a lot. I feel like the lyrics now have more rhyme or...I don't know....run together more smoothly. The format of the songs has gotten better. It overall feels smoother. The guitars, drum, and bass just....I am going to go on forever....they all have gotten better. The music has improved.
There is one thing people who are disappointed with the new album will like:
Icon for Hire used to be darker.
They used to incorporate a bit of screaming into the music. However, Ariel does use some more intense singing now.
There isn't as many electronic touches, which some people may like.
